Our Story
What is this all about?
In 2014, my husband became bedridden; I moved my office home to be across the hall from him and better able to help. He had been the cook in our house; I was the assistant. I had to learn to cook, but I could (and did) run upstairs to ask him questions. In 2016, I was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis); my husband died in 2018. More than shaken, I had begun to work my business knowing there would be more shoes to drop.
Then came March 2020!
During the COVID lockdown, the idea of 30 Recipes with a Pound of Hamburger began to germinate in my mind, with the thought of making a cookbook for my nephew when he went to college. I thought I’d have it ready by Christmas but ended up having to hustle to get it done by the time he graduated high school that spring!
Since then, it has grown to 300 recipes…and counting
This collection was compiled with love and the intent to be a handy and instructive starting point for the busy home cook. There are many variations and additions to these recipes, but we hope they serve as a guided start.
Recipes are fun to share
Recipes are one of the most popular “hand-me-downs” around the world. How and what we eat will often have a direct tie to our family history and culture; people love to cook and eat together. You will likely see familiar recipes here, and what varies from your family recipe may not suit you. That is one of the best things about recipes—you can change them!

Words to cook by
We wish to introduce “Einstein” and “Pierre”.
“Einstein” appears when there is a culinary term you may need defined. “Pierre” will appear to define a term we have borrowed from another language.
Dedicated to my darling daughters, Madeline and Brielle
Acknowledgments
I want to thank my mom, my grammas, my husband and many of my friends and family. Each, in their way, taught me how to cook, what to cook, and to ENJOY cooking. Planning, preparing and sharing meals are among my most cherished memories.
